태국이 애도하다. 시리킷 왕대비 서거

 

태국 국민의 어머니이자 ‘국모(國母)’로 불리던 시리킷 왕대비님께서 2025년 10월 24일 향년 93세로 영면하셨습니다. 
왕대비님께서는 수십 년에 걸쳐 태국의 전통 산업을 보호하고 농촌 개발에 헌신하며 국민과 함께한 삶을 살아오셨습니다.

어린 시절부터 태국과 국제 무대에서 시대를 상징하는 인물로 활약하셨고, 특히 태국 실크 산업과 수공예를 되살리는 데 지대한 역할을 하셨습니다. 
또한 태국의 농촌 지역 주민들에게 직접 찾아가 복지 사업과 환경 보전을 이끌었으며, 이 모든 활동이 태국 사회에 깊은 울림을 남겼습니다. 

그녀의 서거는 단순한 한 인물의 죽음을 넘어 태국 국민 전체의 큰 상실입니다. 현재 태국은 공식적인 1년간의 국가 애도기간을 선포하며 국민들이 검정 또는 흰 옷을 입고 조의를 표하고 있습니다.
저는 한국에서 이 소식을 접하며, 왕대비님이 보여주신 나라와 국민을 향한 사랑과 책임감에 깊이 머리를 숙입니다.

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the beloved Queen Mother of Thailand and the nation’s “Mother of the People,” peacefully passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 93.
For decades, Her Majesty dedicated her life to protecting Thailand’s cultural heritage and uplifting the livelihoods of rural communities through tireless development projects.

From a young age, Queen Sirikit became a symbol of grace, intellect, and leadership—both in Thailand and on the global stage. She played an instrumental role in reviving the Thai silk industry and preserving the nation’s traditional craftsmanship. Her countless visits to rural villages reflected her deep compassion and commitment to her people, leaving behind a legacy of love and dignity that transcends generations.

Her passing is not just the loss of a royal figure but a profound moment of grief for the entire Thai nation. Thailand has declared a year-long national mourning period, during which citizens wear black or white to honor her memory.

As a foreign resident in Thailand, I offer my deepest condolences. Her Majesty’s unwavering dedication and love for her people will forever remain a guiding light for Thailand’s future.

สมเด็จพระบรมราชชนนีสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชินีนาถ ซึ่งเป็นที่รักของปวงชนชาวไทย และได้รับการขนานนามว่าเป็น “แม่ของแผ่นดิน” ได้เสด็จสวรรคตอย่างสงบเมื่อวันที่ 24 ตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2568 สิริพระชนมพรรษา 93 พรรษา

ตลอดพระชนมชีพ พระองค์ทรงอุทิศตนเพื่อปกป้องวัฒนธรรมไทย และพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตของประชาชนในชนบท ผ่านโครงการพระราชดำริต่าง ๆ มากมาย พระองค์ทรงเป็นแรงบันดาลใจทั้งในประเทศและระดับโลก โดยเฉพาะในการฟื้นฟูอุตสาหกรรมผ้าไหมไทย และงานหัตถกรรมพื้นบ้านให้กลับมามีชีวิตอีกครั้ง

การเสด็จสวรรคตของพระองค์ถือเป็นความสูญเสียครั้งใหญ่ของชาติไทย รัฐบาลไทยได้ประกาศให้มีการไว้ทุกข์เป็นเวลา 1 ปีเต็ม โดยประชาชนแต่งกายด้วยชุดสีดำหรือขาว เพื่อแสดงความอาลัย

ในฐานะชาวต่างชาติที่อาศัยอยู่ในประเทศไทย ข้าพเจ้าขอแสดงความเสียใจอย่างสุดซึ้งต่อการจากไปของพระองค์ สมเด็จพระบรมราชชนนีสิริกิติ์ จะทรงเป็นแรงบันดาลใจและสัญลักษณ์แห่งความรัก ความเมตตา และความเสียสละของประชาชนชาวไทยตลอดไป

“รอยทางที่พระองค์ทรงเดิน ยังคงส่องแสงอยู่บนผืนดินไทย ผ่านวัฒนธรรมและหัวใจของผู้คน”
